Fairy King Prawn to Defend His Yasuda Kinen Title After Import Restrictions Eased
9 May 2001
Hong Kong Champion Horse Fairy King Prawn will be heading to Japan to compete in the Yasuda Kinen on 3rd June. The Hong Kong Jockey Club has been informed by the Japan Racing Association (JRA) that Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has eased the restrictions on importing horses from countries/regions where foot and mouth disease has not been eradicated, with qualifications. This has paved the way for Fairy King Prawn to run again in one of the region's top 1600m race.
"We are delighted with the announcement from Tokyo and we must again thank the JRA for their efforts in bringing this matter to a successful conclusion," says Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Hong Kong Jockey Club's Executive Director, Racing." "We wish Fairy King Prawn every success in his venture to Japan, and hope he can again bring honours back to Hong Kong."
