The Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit -

Manchester United Academy U16 squad face Hong Kong, China U18 Representative Team in visitors¡¦ first friendly match

 

The first friendly match of the Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit was held tonight (9 August) at Mong Kok Stadium, with the Hong Kong, China U18 Representative Team playing against the visiting Manchester United Academy U16 team. Both teams played a spirited game, delivering a thrilling match for spectators. After a resilient display of teamwork by the local players, the game ended with a final score of 0 ¡V 3 to the Manchester United.

 

The match attracted over 4,500 spectators, who set the tone for a lively atmosphere. Manchester United legend Diego Forlán attended the match and local football fans had the chance of a lifetime to meet the hero. As a major event of the ¡§Happy Hong Kong¡¨ campaign, launched by the HKSAR Government, the match was accompanied by a variety of entertainment with game booths and performances for the public¡¦s enjoyment.

 

Organised by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit is being held in Hong Kong from 6 to 13 August. The Manchester United Academy U16 squad will play in the Summit¡¦s second friendly match against the Hong Kong, China Youth Select Team at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday (12 August).

 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has long been committed to local football development, and through football it aims to impact society in a positive way. Launched in 2017, the Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit is a collaboration between the Club, Manchester United and the Football Association of Hong Kong, China to encourage youth development, combining cultural exchange, creative inspiration and athletic training. It exposes participants to new people and ideas, widening their horizons. Through this experience, young people gain skills and inspiration as they ¡§Play Together, Learn Together and Train Together¡¨.
