The son of champion trainer Sergio, Cumani set up training in Newmarket in 1976 and has seen 55 Gr.1 races come his way since; Cumani was an international trainer long before the current vogue and won the Arlington Million in 1983 with Tolomeo; he has also won the Japan Cup (Alkaased), Hong Kong Cup (with the brilliant Falbrav) and most of the major races in Britain, including the Epsom Derby twice.
