Background:
Manfred Man was a jockey in Hong Kong between 1976 and 1983 and notched a memorable triumph in the 1979 QEII Cup on Go-Getter. He then worked through the assistant trainer ranks, most notably with John Moore, and received a full trainer’s licence in 2001. Man trained Eagle Regiment to win the 2012 HKG1 Centenary Sprint Cup and brought the horse back from injury to win the same race in 2013. He also nursed Eagle Regiment to achieve a gallant third in the 2013 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan, Dubai. Man achieved his best total of 44 winners in 2022/23, the season in which he won seven Group races with star galloper Lucky Sweynesse. Crowned Hong Kong Champion Sprinter and Champion Four-Year-Old that term, Lucky Sweynesse not only was a three-time Group 1 winner but also claimed each leg of Hong Kong’s three-race Speed Series. Man trained his 600th win in Hong Kong with Run Run Good in 2023.
