TRAVEL
& ACCOMMODATION |
Airfares
- In addition to meeting the cost
of shipping horses and their grooms (x2 per horse) to Hong
Kong and return to country of origin and their accommodation.
The HKJC will provide and will send return business class
air tickets on a carrier designated by the HKJC for the
connections of each overseas invited horse as follows :-
Registered Owner - 2 tickets
Trainer - 1 ticket
Jockey - 1 ticket |

Only the above are eligible for travel
concessions, and specifically:
- In the event a jockey is already
riding in Hong Kong his/her concession may not be re-allocated.
- In the event any connection fulfils
more than one role (eg. owner/trainer) only one or two
(including spouse / partner) concession(s) is/are granted
and any additional concessions may not be reallocated.
- In the event any connection has
an interest in more than one runner, or a jockey is
to ride more than one overseas runner only one or two
(including spouse/partner) concession(s) is/are granted
and any additional concessions may not be reallocated.
Hotel
Accommodation
- Hotel accommodation will be provided
at the officially appointed Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth
II Cup Hotel - Conrad International - as follows :-
(1) Owner - One room for
5 nights |
(2) Trainer - One room for
7 nights |
(3) Jockey - One room for
7 nights |

- Owners, Trainers or Jockeys wishing
to be accommodated for a longer period than the number of
nights listed above will cover any additional nights and
associated expenses.
- Owners, Trainers or Jockeys wishing
to be accommodated closer to the racecourse may be accommodated
by special request under the same terms at the Royal Park
Hotel, Sha Tin. No financial allowance will be provided
for connections who choose to stay in hotels other than
the officially appointed hotels.
Horse
Shipment
- The HKJC will arrange and meet the
costs of return transport by road from home stable to departure
airport, and return air transport for each invited horse,
its accompanying groom and the head groom /assistant trainer
of the stable concerned. The HKJC and its transport agents
will not be liable for any death of or injury to any invited
horses during transportation to and from Hong Kong, or while
in Hong Kong.

Shipping times
- Horses travelling together will need
to share pallets on the basis of two horses for each pallet.
Costs during the period spent in quarantine on return to
home country will be for the owner's account.

- It is strongly recommended to
ship horses at least seven days before the date of the race
to allow recovery from any travel related problems and for
clearance from their systems of any prohibited substances
required to be administered for treatment purpose. Therapeutic
medications may be detected in samples taken from horses
for much longer than a week.
- All horses must travel with their official
identification papers/passport which must be available for
inspection and collection by the veterinary authorities
upon their arrival at the quarantine stables in Hong Kong.
The documents will be returned prior to the horses departure
from Hong Kong.
Head
Grooms & Grooms
- Travel
Head grooms and grooms will travel with their horses at
the HKJC's expense.
- Accommodation
Head grooms and grooms will be accommodated at the Royal
Park Hotel in Sha Tin at the HKJC's expense. A daily subsistence
allowance will also be provided on respective hotel accounts
for grooms at the Royal Park Hotel for meals, beverage,
laundry and communication. These allowances are non-accumulatable.
Any costs incurred over and above the daily allowance will
be for the individual's own account. Transport will be provided
to and from the stables.
Insurance
- Horses
The HKJC will not be responsible for horse insurance. Connections
should therefore make their own insurance arrangements.
- Trainers, Jockeys & Stable
Personnel
Visiting trainers, jockeys, head grooms/assistant trainers
and grooms will be covered by the HKJC's Group Personal
Accident Insurance and Group Medical Insurance only for
bodily injury resulting from work related activities during
their stay in Hong Kong. Horse connections are strongly
recommended to arrange their own insurance to cover travel
and non work related injury and illness .
