Introduction
The HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup was established
in the 1997/98 season by the Stewards to commemorate the acceptance
of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
to be the Patron of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The Cup also marked
the start of a new racing era when horse racing took place for the
first time under the newly established Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region.
This Cup race is now competed for annually
and has become the first major event at the start of the season.
